Concealed Carry Permits On The Rise

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Residents signing up for concealed carry permits have increased over the past year, and that's likely to continue.
People passionate about their second amendment rights are rushing to get their concealed carry permits.
"We have seen an increase in people getting concealed weapon permits over the last several years. There is a lot more people taking classes now that there is the enhanced license, a lot more people are taking the classes to get their license," explains Bryan Horsley, Red's Trading Post general manager.
Taking a class, successfully completing the background check, and participating in an interview is all it takes to get your concealed carry.
As of this year... 77-thousand Idahoans had a concealed carry permit.
That's according to the website Legally Armed, which compiles data from law enforcement agency reports.
So what can residents expect for the future of conceal and carry?
"I think that's going to depend on what happens at the federal level. If people are starting to get concerned again about losing their rights then there will definitely going to come in and try to get their permit before that privilege is lost," points out Jack Johnson, Chief Deputy of Jerome.
In the past few years, the number of women carrying concealed weapons has drastically increased, up 89-percent since 1989.
Residents in Idaho are also able to openly carry weapons without a conceal and carry permit; Idaho's Second Amendment Alliance believes that as long as you are an abiding citizen, you should be able to carry a weapon, opened or concealed.
